We all love the glitter of the Amalfi Coast in July or the buzz of Mykonos in August. But true luxury? True luxury is having the paved limestone streets of Dubrovnik entirely to yourself. It’s sipping a vintage red by a roaring fire in a Cotswolds manor house without battling a tour bus for the view. It’s seeing the authentic soul of a destination.

5. Lanzarote, Spain

The volcanic landscape of Timanfaya National Park is dramatic and moody in winter. I’ll arrange a private driver to take you through the lava fields and to the César Manrique architectural sites, ensuring you skip the bus queues and experience the art in silence.
6. Crete, Greece

Picture this: A long, crisp walk through frost-covered rolling hills, followed by a Sunday Roast next to a crackling fireplace in a historic pub.
