Day 1 - Arrival in Paris

Morning:

  • Arrive in Paris and check into your hotel.
  • Take a leisurely walk around your hotel area to get acquainted with the surroundings.

Lunch:

  • Le Comptoir du Relais (9 Carrefour de l'Odéon, 75006 Paris)

Afternoon:

  • Visit the Eiffel Tower and enjoy the view from the top.
  • Stroll along the Champs-Élysées and visit the Arc de Triomphe.

Dinner:

  • Le Jules Verne (Eiffel Tower, Avenue Gustave Eiffel, 75007 Paris)

Day 2 - Paris

Half day tour of Paris.  Begins with ascent to the 2nd floor to the Eiffel Tower for a panoramic view of Paris.

Then a 70 minute cruise on the Seine with its unforgettable 38 bridges and viewing the major monuments of the city.

After the cruise the tour will continue via mini bus to drive by Concorde Square, the Champs Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Moulin Rouge to name a few.

Lunch

After Lunch tour continues through the village of Montmartre, passing by Sacre Coeur Basilica and the famous Place du Tertre where artist and painters used to display their works.

You will have a short stop to stroll the streets of the village.

Next your will drive by the Opera, Vendome Squares, the Louvre, the Marais district, and Notre Dame Cathedral.  Then to the left bank through the Latin Quarter, the Pantheon. Luxembourg Gardens, and teh Invalides Church before returning to the hotel.

Day 3 - Paris

After Breakfast, you have the day at leisure to explore the city.  Don't fore the Invalides, the museum relating to the military history of France, and the site of Napoleon's burial site.

Note far aways is the Pantheon where many French national heroes are interred, such are Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Louis Braille, and Marie Curie.

For impressionist art lovers, there is the Musee d'Orsay and the Orangerie, as well as the Picasso and Rodin Museums.

For French Revolutionary War buffs, the relatively unknown Picpus cemetery, where victims of the Reign of Terror lie, including the well honored grave of the Marquis de Lafayette.

Day 4 - Paris to Normandy

Pick up your rental car at one of the several convenient locations in Paris and begin your leisurely drive through the Normandy countryside.

While on your way to Bayeux or Caen, consider a stop in Giverny: the former residence of Claude Monet and his garden.  Well worth a visit is the medieval town of Rouen, where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake.

Stop at Bayeux to see the renowned Bayeux Tapestry where William the Conqueror's invasion of England is literally woven in great detail.

Along the 50 mile drive of the Normandy coast are memorials to the invasion and remnants of German gun emplacements.  The inspiring Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial is located on a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach.

Check into your hotel.

Day 5 - Normandy

After breakfast, depart on your half day tour where you will visit three major sites in the American sector.  You will visit historic D-day sies including beaches, bunkers, trenches, gun post and more.

Finally, you will visit the Normandy American Cemetery which covers 172 acres and is the final resting place for 9387, service men and women. You will have free time in the cemetery visitor center.

Day 6 - Normandy

Today you will have several options on your last day to explore other interesting sites as your wish, including Honfleur, a picturesque port city, favored by Impressionist like Monet.

The twin towns of Deauville, a chic seaside resort and A Trouville, a traditional fishing port, and Falaise, birthplace of William the Conqueror and site of a famout WWII battle.

No visit to Normandy would be complete without stopping at Mont-Saint-Michel (St. Michael’s Mount). A traditional pilgrimage destination and the 4th most visited tourist site in France.

Day 7 - Normandy

Morning:

  • Drive to Caen and visit the Caen Memorial Museum.

Lunch:

  • Le Bouchon du Vaugueux (12 Rue Graindorge, 14000 Caen)

Afternoon:

  • Explore the Abbaye aux Hommes and Abbaye aux Dames.
  • Drive to Bayeux and check into your hotel.

Dinner:

Day 8 - Normandy

Morning:

  • Visit the Bayeux Tapestry Museum.

Lunch:
